WOW, this is a damn good game. The only negative is that it lags a lot.
Thanks Fire!
Yeah that's the gamejam timeline showing. Haha.
You'll be happy to know that we are going to develop a much more optimised version, and expand the game a bit more this year! So look out for an update :)
Cheers,
Andrew.
Interesting concept but not really sure what the game here is.
1) The price scaling is totally off, take way too long to unlock a new dino
2) Theres no explanation that the dinos will attack each other and how this impacts score
3) No explanation of how to get points faster (I think more dinos but I' not sure and this seems counter active to having the dinos attack each other)''
4) The game functionality is laggy (Could be my pc) the camera movement is not fluid
Adaption thoughts: I think that this could be neat as an aquarium/safari management game. Somewhere that different animals are enclosed together, I wouldn't have them attack each other automatically but have some other dynamic like food built in or based on a numbers ratio between different animals.
Good on you for creating this but I think some more explanation of the mechanics would really benefit anyone looking to 'play' this.
Hi EISPN, cheers for playing!
1) Agreed. It's not balanced at all, we threw up some numbers based on dino's stats! If we pursue this game, we'll definitely do some dedicated testing to balance that sort of thing.
2) Yes! We didn't get enough time during the week to make info-graphics for each dino. This is on the to-do list :)
3) Good eye! Yes, each alive dino will give you points every 'tick' of the game. The reason we made dinos attack each other is because we want the player to try build a sustainable ecosystem with dinos breeding and eating each other at a balanced rate. This is highly not balanced, because we never got that far during the jam!
4) It's not your PC at all, it's definitely the game. It is HIGHLY unoptimized, especially as a webgl game. I have pushed some updates tonight that help a tiny bit with lag, but it will still be laggy once you get to a certain amount of dinos until we implement some more features to help with that :)
5) I like your adaption thoughts! Sounds like a fun idea to look into, but we will continue with the plan we made for now, and make that a bit more polished.
6) Thanks for your feedback! It's greatly appreciated, we definitely need to add a tutorial to nudge players in the right direction.
